Reconnecting a Network From the Dashboard

Use the dashboard when an external IRC network becomes disconnected or after changing its settings.

  1. Sign in to the dashboard.
  2. Open Networks.
  3. Find the affected network.
  4. Review its server, port, TLS and nickname settings.
  5. Save any necessary changes.
  6. Select Reconnect.
  7. Allow the connection attempt to finish.

When a reconnect may be required

A reconnect may be needed after:

  • Changing the IRC server.
  • Changing the port.
  • Enabling or disabling SSL/TLS.
  • Changing the nickname.
  • Applying a different vHost.
  • An external IRC server outage.
  • A temporary connection-limit error.

Do not repeatedly press Reconnect

Repeated submissions can create overlapping connection attempts and make the network state harder to diagnose.

Submit the reconnect once, wait for the dashboard status to update and then review the resulting message.

No full service restart is required

Reconnecting one network is intended to affect that selected network only.

Do not request a full BNC or service restart for an ordinary single-network connection problem.
