Account Creation, Ownership and Duplicate Accounts

This policy explains how accounts must be created, maintained and used.

Website registration only

All new accounts must be created through the official website registration process.

IRC and Eggdrop registration has been discontinued. Older guides describing an IRC signup wizard are no longer valid.

Use:

https://eggy.net/register

Accurate account information

You must provide a valid email address that you control.

Your email address may be used for:

  • Account recovery.
  • Password resets.
  • Important service notices.
  • Support follow-up.
  • Security notifications.

Do not register using an email address belonging to another person without permission.

One account per user

Users should maintain one account unless additional accounts have been approved in advance.

Creating duplicate accounts to bypass:

  • Network limits.
  • Premium restrictions.
  • vHost restrictions.
  • Suspensions.
  • Account limits.
  • Other service controls.

may result in suspension of all related accounts.

Accounts may be linked using information such as login history, IP information, browser or device information, account behaviour and other operational records.

Account ownership

The person controlling the registered email address and account credentials is normally treated as the account holder.

Do not sell, trade, share or transfer your account without approval.

You are responsible for actions performed through your account, including actions taken by someone to whom you deliberately gave access.

Account security

You must:

  • Use a strong and unique password.
  • Keep your email account secure.
  • Avoid sharing your password.
  • Report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
  • Keep recovery information current.

Staff will never ask you to post or send your password.

Inactive, compromised or misleading accounts

Accounts may be restricted where there is evidence of:

  • Unauthorised access.
  • False registration information.
  • Duplicate-account abuse.
  • Impersonation.
  • Automated or mass registration.
  • Attempts to bypass service restrictions.

Restrictions may remain in place while the account is reviewed.
