Choose a vHost

A vHost changes the hostname displayed when your BNC connects to a supported IRC network.

  1. Sign in to the dashboard.
  2. Open Vhosts.
  3. Browse or search the available vHost library.
  4. Select the vHost you want to use.
  5. Select the IRC network where it should be applied.
  6. Use Apply & Reconnect.

The selected IRC network may briefly disconnect and reconnect so the new hostname can take effect.

Compatibility

Some IRC servers support IPv4 only, while many Eggy vHosts use IPv6. An IPv6 vHost cannot be used through an IRC server that has no IPv6 connectivity.

If the network fails to reconnect after applying a vHost:

  • Check whether the IRC server supports IPv6.
  • Try an official IPv6-capable server for that IRC network.
  • Apply an IPv4-compatible option where available.
  • Review the error displayed by the dashboard.

Some vHosts are available to Free users, while Premium selections require an active Premium entitlement or trial.

Apply vHosts through the dashboard rather than changing BindHost manually.
