Suspected Unauthorised Account Access

Take action immediately if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

Possible warning signs include:

• Your password no longer works.
• Networks or settings have changed without your permission.
• An unfamiliar email address is shown.
• You receive a password-reset email you did not request.
• Your IRC client disconnects because another session has connected.
• Unexpected vHost or nickname changes appear.

Immediate steps

1. Secure the email account connected to your BNC account.
2. Change the email account password.
3. Enable additional email security where available.
4. Request an Eggy BNC password reset.
5. Choose a new password that has not been used elsewhere.
6. Update the password saved in your IRC client.
7. Review your dashboard networks and account settings.

Create an Account Support thread and include:

• Your BNC username.
• When you first noticed the problem.
• Which settings appear to have changed.
• Whether you still control the registered email address.
• Any relevant login or security messages.

Do not publicly post IP addresses, passwords, reset links or complete email headers unless staff specifically request them through an appropriate private support method.
