Your BNC Connection and IRC Network Connection Are Different

Eggy BNC uses two separate connections.

1. Your IRC client connects to Eggy BNC

This connection always uses:

Code:
bnc.eggy.net +5000

Your login format is:

Code:
username/Network:password

2. Eggy BNC connects to the external IRC network

That connection uses the server and port saved in the Networks area of your dashboard.

Examples:

Code:
irc.libera.chat +6697
irc.dal.net +6697
irc6.undernet.org 6667
irc6.quakenet.org 6667

These settings do not replace bnc.eggy.net +5000 in your IRC client.

Why this distinction matters

If your IRC client cannot connect to bnc.eggy.net, check:

  • The BNC server.
  • Port +5000.
  • SSL/TLS.
  • Your BNC login format.

If your IRC client connects to Eggy BNC but one external network remains disconnected, check:

  • That network's server address.
  • The network port.
  • The network SSL/TLS setting.
  • IPv4 or IPv6 compatibility.
  • The network's own connection limits or availability.

A failure on one external IRC network does not automatically mean your Eggy BNC account is broken.
