Message Previews and Retention Settings

IRC Inbox provides controls for how message information is displayed in the dashboard.

Message previews

The option:

Show message previews in the dashboard

controls whether message text previews are shown in applicable IRC Inbox areas.

Disable this option if you prefer the dashboard to display thread information without previewing message content.

Retention period

Available retention selections are:

• 7 days.
• 14 days.
• 30 days.

The selected period controls the history window used when IRC Inbox reads and displays thread messages.

Saving the settings

After changing previews or retention:

1. Select the required options.
2. Use Save IRC Inbox Settings.
3. Wait for confirmation.
4. Refresh the affected thread where required.

Hiding is not deletion

The retention setting and Hide control are separate features.

Hiding a thread changes the dashboard view and should not be treated as a command to delete underlying BNC log files.
