Suspension, Restrictions and Appeals

Accounts may be restricted or suspended where there is evidence of abuse, security risk or a breach of service rules.

Reasons action may be taken

Examples include:

  • Duplicate-account abuse.
  • Ban or suspension evasion.
  • Premium or vHost bypass.
  • Spam, flooding or abusive automation.
  • Credible abuse reports from an IRC network.
  • Threats, harassment or illegal activity.
  • Payment fraud or chargebacks.
  • Unauthorised access or account compromise.
  • Repeated refusal to follow staff instructions.

Types of restriction

Action may include:

  • A warning.
  • Removal of a network.
  • Removal or replacement of a vHost.
  • Disabling BindHost.
  • Restricting dashboard controls.
  • Temporary account suspension.
  • Permanent account suspension.

The action selected depends on severity, history, evidence and risk.

Temporary safety restrictions

An account may be restricted temporarily while an issue is investigated.

A temporary restriction does not automatically mean that a final decision has been made.

Appeals

Where an appeal is available, submit it through the official appeal process.

A useful appeal should include:

  • Your account username.
  • The restriction or decision being appealed.
  • Why you believe the decision should be reviewed.
  • Any relevant evidence or context.
  • What steps you will take to avoid a repeat issue.

Do not create duplicate accounts to contact staff or bypass the restriction.

Appeal outcomes

An appeal may result in:

  • The original decision remaining in place.
  • A restriction being reduced.
  • The account being restored with conditions.
  • The account being fully restored.

Restored accounts may continue to be reviewed periodically for compliance.

This review is intended to enforce account and WHOIS rules, not to track a user's conversations on external networks.
